Print-ready PDF

For digital printing and large-format prints, we recommend supplying a print-ready PDF with the following settings:

  • Raster images approximately 300 dpi
  • Line images approximately 1200 dpi
  • Pages centred
  • 3 mm bleed
  • Trim marks at least 2.5 mm from the design (3.5 mm for booklets)
  • Fonts embedded
  • Enable trim marks only; disable all other marks
  • Use CMYK or Greyscale colour mode, not RGB or PMS colours

Open files

If you cannot create a PDF, you can provide an editable file created in a design application such as InDesign or Photoshop.

  • Include the fonts used.
  • Include all linked images and illustrations.
  • Set up the file in CMYK.

Other programs

You can also prepare artwork in programs such as Illustrator or Word. Because these programs often cannot create a print-ready PDF, extra prepress costs may apply. We charge 50 euros per hour for print preparation.

Colour

PMS and RGB colours are converted to CMYK during production, which can cause colour differences. We therefore recommend supplying CMYK files. RGB files are acceptable for large-format prints.

Imposition and paper size

Create your file at the final size. Do not place multiple cards or items on one sheet yourself. Our equipment handles imposition automatically at no extra charge. The net print area of our digital press is 32 x 45 cm.

Bleed

To trim your work correctly, we need a print-ready file with 3 mm bleed. Any elements that run to the edge of the paper must extend 3 mm beyond the final size. We also advise against using a white border on the front of postcards. If you do want a white border, make it at least 5 mm wide.

Proof print

We can produce a proof print of your file within one working day for an additional charge. Once the proof is approved, we print the full run.
